2023-05 Motherhood

It is the special time of the year dedicated to recognizing one of the most treasured gifts from God to mankind – MOTHERS! Proverbs 31:25-30 so eloquently describes good mothers:
“Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come. She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue. She looks well to the ways of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her. Many women have done excellently but you surpass them all.”

Genesis 4:1 tells us, “And Adam knew Eve his wife; and she conceived, and bare Cain, and said, I have gotten a man from the Lord. With that, motherhood graced the world with its tender yet fierce love. She is strong and resilient, loves unconditionally, and is a role model and the first person commissioned to teach a child about our Lord Jesus. A writer suggested that some things about mothers are misunderstood. He writes:

Somebody said that a child is carried in its mother’s womb for nine months.
Somebody does not know that a child is carried in its mother’s heart forever.

Somebody said it takes about six weeks to get back to normal after you’ve had a baby.
Somebody doesn’t know that once you’re a mother, normal is history.

Somebody said you learn how to be a mother by instinct.
Somebody never took a three-year-old shopping.

Somebody said being a mother is boring.
Somebody never rode in a car driven by a teenager with a driver’s permit.

Somebody said “good” mothers never raise their voices.
Somebody never came out the back door just in time to see her child hit a golf ball through the neighbor’s kitchen window.

Somebody said you don’t need an education to be a mother.
Somebody never helped a fourth grader with his math.

Somebody said you can’t love the fifth child as much as you love the first.
Somebody doesn’t have five children.

Somebody said a mother can find all the answers to her child-rearing questions in the books.
Somebody never had a child stuff beans up her nose.

Somebody said the hardest part of being a mother is labor and delivery.
Somebody never watched her “baby” get on the bus for the first day of kindergarten.

Somebody said a mother can stop worrying after her child gets married.
Somebody doesn’t know that marriage adds a new son or daughter-in-law to a mother’s heartstrings.

Somebody said a mother’s job is done when her last child leaves home.
Somebody never had grandchildren.

Somebody said your mother knows you love her, so you don’t need to tell her.
SOMEBODY ISN’T A MOTHER.

>>>> If you still have your mother, love her, honor her, and let her know how much you appreciate her.
>>>> If you are a mother, we bless you and give you honor. You hold a special place in the heart of God. Happy Mother’s Day!
>>>> If you have lost your mother, you already know that it is one of the most heartbreaking experiences that you could have. There will never be a time in this life that you don’t miss her and are completely free of the longing for her. But there is good news: if you are a saved child of God, there WILL be a time that you will never have to miss her again.

The word of God promises in Revelation 21:4: ”And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.”

The children’s author, Dr. Seuss is attributed for saying: ”Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened” – wise words although easier said than done at times.
