The time changed this past weekend in most areas of the United States. We had to move our clocks forward an hour and conversely, in the fall, we will have to move them back an hour — hence the helpful hint: “Spring forward, Fall back.”
In one scenario, we lose an hour while in the other, we regain one; however, in God’s timing, we can never really regain time in our lives. The time that is predestined for our presence on this earth only moves ahead, so we should live it to the fullest!
Jesus said in John 10:10, “I came that they may have life and have it abundantly.” It is His desire that we live and flourish even after the loss of loved ones. Moreover, our loved ones who have passed on would want us to live, they would encourage us to spring forward and live the rest of our lives to the utmost. Those who have gone from this life before us would also understand that sometimes it won’t be easy for us to move on or to feel happy. Sometimes, it will feel impossible and the pain will seem unbearable as we “fall back” to past remembrances when they were still with us. Just think of them cheering us on and inspiring us to keep going and remember that we are not alone. Psalm 34:18 reminds us that, “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”
Until the time when we meet our loved ones in eternal glory, determine to make the best of this temporary life. When we are in Christ, our stories and our loved ones’ stories do not end in the grave. As a matter of fact, our stories will never end and time will never be turned back.
The Ritchie & Johnson staff prays that you spring forward into this beautiful, blessed season when nature is rejuvenated and color and new life come forth. We hope that you will celebrate and reflect upon it as a time for newness and growth in your own life.
