Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Deacon James ôJimmyö Cox, 69, of Beckley, formerly of Tams and Stotesbury, WV died Saturday, October 1, 2016.

Born February 5, 1947 in Beckley, WV, he was the son of the late Nelson and Gladys Hurte Cox.

Jimmy honorably served in U.S. Army, was a certified electrician and carpenter, a Deacon and member of Heart of God Ministries and co-led Bible Study at Gene Spadaro Juvenile Center.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Joseph E. Cox Sr.

Left to cherish precious memories are his loving wife of 44 years, Millie J. Settle Cox; sons, James L. Cox Jr. (companion, Andrea) Raschard Cox (Jennifer), Marques Cox (companion, Kelli) all of Beckley; daughters, Sharaun Stanley of Flint MI, Jacqueline Barber of Columbus, OH, and Barbara Trawick of FL.; son-in-law, Paul Barber of Roanoke, VA; brother, Howard (Jessica) Cox of Columbia, SC, sisters, Virgie M. Jackson of St. Albans, WV, Mary E. Wiltz and Barbara Mizell, both of Beckley, WV; 14 special grandchildren; one great-grandchild, and a host of special nieces, nephews, other family and dear friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Friday, October 7, 2016 at Heart of God Ministries, 1703 So. Kanawha St., Beckley with Bishop Fred T. Simms officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
