Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Evangelist Bertha I. Carpenter, 76, of White Sulphur Springs, WV died Thursday, January 5, 2017.

Born November 3, 1940 in Blue Sulphur, WV she was the daughter of the late Deacon Otis L. Carpenter Sr. and Pastor Irene M. Nalley Carpenter.

Evangelist Carpenter worked as a CNA for twenty years and was a member of Guiding Star Church, Roanoke VA.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Ethel Council, Marie Henderson, and Pamela Carpenter; brothers, Bubby Carpenter, Otis L. Carpenter Jr., Harold Carpenter, Charles Carpenter and Herman Carpenter and daughter, Zona G. Carpenter.

Those left to cherish precious memories are her son, Rev. Kevin Carpenter of White Sulphur Springs, WV; grandchildren, Charron Carpenter, Dwayne Carpenter and Carla Baxter; great-grandchildren, Makalya Hickman and Makell Hickman and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00 P.M. Saturday, January 14, 1017 at Saint James Methodist Church, 52 Church Street, White Sulphur Springs, with Rev. Kevin Carpenter and Rev. Greg Scott officiating. Burial will follow in Rosewood Cemetery, Lewisburg.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
