Obituary For Minister Curtis Eugene Thompson
Minister Curtis Eugene Thompson entered into his earthly journey in Beckley, WV, May 23, 1958, a son of the late Alpha Curtis and Betty Lou Jackson Thompson. He graduated from labor to reward Friday, April 30, 2021 following a very courageous battle with his health.
Minister Thompson attended Woodrow Wilson High School.
Minister Thompson was a former member of the Full Gospel Tabernacle (NAKA Beaver Church of God) under the Pastorate of the late Rev. Preston and Sis. Barbara’s Adkins and Bishop Jerryd and Sis. Amanda Clyburn for a number of years and later became a faithful and devout member of Faith Temple of Deliverance Triumphant Pentecostal Church (Apostolic) Inc., under the leadership of then, Elder Bobby Tunstalle, since 1995, Vice-Bishop of the TPC (Apostolic) Inc., a journey in his walk with the Lord for 25 1/2 years. He was baptized in Jesus Name in December 1995. While serving at Faith Temple he was a Van Driver, Choir Member, President and Vice-President of the Men’s Department, in May 1998 he was ordained as a deacon and in July 2019, he preached his initial sermon and whatever his hands found to do, Minister Thompson did just that to serve his Pastor and church family wholeheartedly to the best of his ability.
Minister Thompson was affectionately known for his sense of humor and his outspoken points of view. There was never a dull moment when he was in the room and he always had something to say to keep your spirits high and full of laughter.
Minister Thompson was a former employee of Beckley Cab Company for a number of years and worked as a nurse’s aide at Care Haven of Raleigh, now Raleigh Rehabilitation Center, Daniels, WV, until becoming disabled in the late 80’s.
Minister Thompson, in addition to his parents, was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Willie and Minnie Thompson, maternal grandparents, Denny Maddox and Ethel Chloe Maddox.
Minister Thompson survived by sons, Prophet Brian K. (Prophetess Tara) Thompson of Charleston, WV and Jeremy E. (Amanda) Thompson of Nelsonville, OH; God-son, Elder Melvin B. (Minister Schmelta) Ross II; adopted daughter, Theresa (Johnny) Isaacs of Rainelle, WV; brother, Dennis L. Thompson and friend, Richard Redden of Winston-Salem, NC and Larry D. Thompson of OH; sisters, Linda (Ernie) Richardson of VA and Diane (Bill) St.Clair of Pemberton, WV; grandchildren, William Taylor-Smith (Victoria) of MT and Maxwell and Lilly Thompson of Nelsonville, OH; God-mothers, Esther Viola Abrams of Beckley and Pastor Sandra R. Jackson of Beckley, WV; special sister, Sheryl L. Green of Beckley; caregiver, Lynn Washington of Beckley; special people whom he loved and cherished, Sister Brenda Mitchell, Sister Pam Ross, “niece” Natasha (Jeratt) Ross-Merrell of Charleston, SC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, The Faith Temple of Deliverance Church Family, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 1:00PM Friday, May 7, 2021 at Heart of God Ministries 1703 S. Kanawha St. Beckley with Bishop B. L. Tunstalle and Bishop Fred T. Simms officiating and Pastor Janet L. Hairston, presiding.
Friends, while wearing gloves and masks and observing social distancing, may view one hour prior to the service.
