Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mr. Anthony C. Scruggs aka " Red" was born in Beckley, WV on August 5, 1975 and passed unexpectedly on Saturday July 31, 2021. Red who was literally known and friended by everyone loved to cook and eat, listen to music and talk on the phone for hours with everybody (seriously, E-V-E-R-Y-B-O-D-Y). And those who were on the other end of those phone conversations can attest to his love of talking on the phone.

Speaking of love, Red also loved his entire family and especially all of his children including Charvia Wright, Daredz Scruggs, Gmone Gore, Niyana Gore, Chrystian Allen, Antonasia Scruggs, Anthony Scruggs, Jr., and Ava Scruggs.

Although he held down all sorts of different types of jobs throughout his adult life, he really should have considered becoming a professional DJ or a comedian. He was always playing music for somebody and discussing what he thought of an artist's rapping skills or singing ability. And if he wasn't speaking on music then he was making everyone laugh with his hilarious jokes about whatever came to mind at the time.

Rest in peace, Red. You were an O.G. from E.P. and you're going to be missed forever by everybody (seriously, E-V-E-R-Y-B-O-D-Y).

Funeral service will be 1:00PM Monday, August 9, 2021 at St. Paul Baptist Temple 129 Rice St., Beckley with Rev. Walter M. Leach officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view one hour prior to the service.
