Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mr. Arthur Devon Young Sr. went home to be with the Lord as he slept peacefully during the night on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 in his home. Born October 1, 1955 in Ansted, WV, he was the son of the late John and Annie Mundy Young. Arthur attended the Fayette County Public Schools and graduated from Ansted High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the military. Arthur accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized in the Muddy Waters of Mill Creek by, his father, the late Deacon John W. Young Sr. and the late Rev. Samuel W. Williams. He became a lifelong member of Mount Chapel Baptist Church. Arthur loved to travel and lived many years in California. However, he spent most of his life time in Ansted. An entrepreneur of his day, Arthur worked a variety of jobs, including his own lawn care service. He was a skilled master builder. Give him a hammer and some nails and he could build or fix anything.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, John Young Jr. and sisters, Mary Young Williams, Annie J. Young and Pamela Young.

Those left to cherish precious memories are his loving wife, Jenette Robinson Young; sons, Arthur Jr., Devon and David; sister, Bernice Young Calloway of Columbus, OH; brothers, Leslie (Bertha) Young of Beckley, WV; Lawrence (Rebecca) Young, of Columbus, OH; Rev. Joseph (Sandrea) Young of London, OH; Michael Young of Charleston, WV; Melvin (Lorie) Young of Nashville, TN; Wayne (Toni) Young of Cleveland Heights, OH and Glen (Joyce) Young of Rayford, NC, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, friends and the Mount Chapel Church Family.

Funeral service will be 1:00PM, Saturday, June 29, 2019 at the Mount Chapel Baptist Church, 100 Skaggs Street, Ansted, with Rev. Herman James officiating. Burial will follow at the Mount Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
