Obituary For Mr. Charles "Chuck" Straub, Jr.

Charles "Chuck" Stephen Straub Jr, 57, of Beckley, WV, formerly of Elkhart, IN was born on December 2, 1960, in Elkhart, IN. He passed on November 3, 2018.

Chuck was preceded in death by his infant daughter, Ashley Marie Straub; maternal grandfather, Austin Talbert; maternal grandmother, Wilma Talbert; paternal grandparents, Louis (Diana) Straub; step-grandparents Virgil (Carol) Thornton; aunt & uncle Kenneth (Betty) Rose; uncles, Roy Gros, John Beachy, Thomas Marquis, and a beloved cousin, Michelle (Talbert) Lague.

Chuck was a kind and good person to everyone he met. He loved animals of all kinds, even reptiles and armadillos, having lived in Texas. He was an avid reader as a child and at the age of about 7 he knew what an Arctic Tern was.

Before his health failed, and he retired, he was an experienced welder for several companies. His supervisor at one large plant, his Uncle Ken, said he was the best TIG welder he ever had.

He is survived by his loving daughter, Crystal (Christopher) Hines, of Summersville, WV and their sweet daughters, Tessa and Hannah; his father Charles Stephen (Jane) Straub, Sr. of Hickman, KY; mother, Nellie Anne (Philip) Thornton of Elkhart, IN; two sisters, Stephanie Reecer (Danny Eslinger) of Elkhart, IN and Tracy (Steve) Thompson of Nottawa, MI; stepbrother, Philip Alan (Melinda) Thornton II of Rochester, IN; stepsister, Toni (John) Beebe of MA; maternal grandmother, Jacklyn Talbert of Orofino, ID; stepdaughters, Desirae and Dana and step-grandchildren, Elijah, Xavier and Roxianne, all of Beckley; good friend Irvin Finney of Beckley; as well as many wonderful, kind, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. he was very close to all of them.

Chuck now sings because his soul is happy, He sings because he's free, for His eye is on the sparrow, And he knows God watches over him. He will be missed.

Service will be held 2:00PM Saturday, Nov. 17, 2018 at Billings Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elkhart with Pastor Timothy Burchill of Trinity United Methodist Church of Elkhart officiating. Friends may call two hours prior to the service.
