Obituary For Mr. Charles Edward Rhodes III
Mr. Charles E. Rhodes III, 61, of Beckley, WV departed this life on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at Raleigh General Hospital.
Born in Beckley, WV on April 29, 1961, he was the son of the late Charles E and Alice J Rhodes Jr.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his grandson, Bishop Carter Lawson; two sisters, Tanya Rhodes and Connie Rhodes; maternal grandparents, Norman Cecil and Lily Mae Jackson and favorite aunt, Pauline Staples.
Charles graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in 1980. He worked at Beckley Hospital and Bob Evans before he decided to serve his country in the United States Army from 1987-1996.While in the Army, he served a tour of duty in Europe. He PCS to Ft. Bragg NC and was with the 249th Supply Company. While there he trained and became a part of the 82nd Airborne Special Forces Division. Charles fought in the Persian Gulf War, after which he returned and served a hardship tour in the Persian Gulf. He also graduated from Fayetteville State University, Fayetteville, NC. He was a member of Living Waters Apostolic Restoration Temple under Pastor William and Co-Pastor Wanda Hamby.
Charles was married to Angella Y. Dews and to this union four children were born, Charles Edward Rhodes IV, Tiffany LaStar Rhodes, Aaron Jaquai (Breanne) Rhodes, and Monique LaShawn Rhodes, all of Beckley, WV.
In addition to his wife and children, he leaves to cherish his memory his brother, Michael Rhodes of Beckley, WV; sisters, Vicky King of NJ and Sharon Blanding and Michelle Starks, both of Charlotte, NC, grandchildren, Maxwell Lawson, Malachi Lawson, and Genesis Lawson, all of Beckley, WV; sisters-in-laws, Juquita Frazier of Beckley, WV, Buena (Ruben) Marshall of Tampa, FL, Teresa (Roy) Dalton of Martinsville, VA, and Subrina (Orlando) Potter of Beckley, WV; special cousins, Bishop Fred T. and Marilyn Simms of Beckley, WV and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Services will be 1:00PM Saturday, August 13, 2022 at Heart of God Ministries 1703 S. Kanawha St. Beckley with Bishop Fred T. Simms officiating,
In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations be made to Heart of God Ministries.
