Obituary For Mr. Charles Mitchell

Mr. Charles Edward Mitchell, 72, of Beckley,WV died Friday, October 1, 2021, as the result of an extended illness.

Charles was born July 11, 1949, in Beckley, WV, he was the son of the late Robert and Pauline Mitchell and the late William “Inky” and Dorothy Whitehead.

Charles was of the Baptist Faith and a Vietnam War Veteran with 25 years of service at Beckley VA Hospital.

Charles loved fishing, bowling, and people.

Charles was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Mitchell Jr.: two sisters, Paulette Ross, and Carolyn Harris. Charles leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Kay (Hairston) Mitchell; brother, William (Sharon) Whitehead; son, John Barringer of Beckley; daughters, Katrina Dunn and Amorita Barringer, both of North Carolina, Shameka and Taneysha Hairston, both of Beckley; grandchildren, Josh, Tiffany, Daniel, Jared, Jacob, Miracle, Trayveon and Braylon; great-grandchildren, Jalan, Nathan and Heaven; special cousins, Regina Elzy of Charleston WV and Robert “Bobby” Hoover of Beckley, WV; special friends, Sam “Dickey” Motley, Robert “Bobby” Frazier, Jackie Saunders, Robert “Gabe” Flynn, John Hairston and Roger Wilkes and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00PM Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Heart of God Ministries 1703 S. Kanawha St., Beckley with Bishop Fred T. Simms officiating. Burial will be 10:00AM Tuesday, October 12, 2021 in Donel C. Kinnard Memorial State Cemetery 130 Academy Dr. Dunbar, WV.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view one hour prior to the service.
