Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mr. Christopher Lamar Brown, 36, of Beckley, WV passed away Wednesday, September 21, 2022.

Christopher Lamar Brown was born on February 19, 1986 to Priscilla (Brown) Dorsey in Lynchburg, VA. Chris served in the U.S. Army, and received a Purple Heart during his deployment in Iraq. He later became a truck driver, spending time on the road while listening to his favorite country music in the background. His laugh could carry throughout the room, making whatever joke impossible to stop laughing from.

Chris would help anyone at any time of day, no matter what they needed. He always made sure the people important to him were taken care of regardless of the need.

Chris was known as “Unky” to his beloved niece and nephew who adored him.

Chris was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother Roberta Brown; maternal grandparents, McKinley and Carrie Jenkins; paternal grandparents, Larry and Janet Farley; brother, Craig Dorsey II; uncle, Felix Jenkins, and cousin, Samanuel Brown.

Those left to cherish him are his parents, Craig and Priscilla Dorsey of Beckley, WV; sister, Tabitha Mays-Canady of Daniels, WV; brother-in-law, Andrew Canady of Daniels, WV; niece, Valerie Mays of Daniels WV, nephew, Carter Canady of Daniels, WV and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and his closest friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00PM Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Bradley Freewill Baptist Church 6132 Robert C Byrd Dr. Mt Hope, WV with Pastor Mike Worley officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view and visit with the family one hour prior to the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to their local Humane Society, or another animal-focused organization
