Obituary For Mr. Clyde A. Dearing Jr.

Mr. Clyde Anderson Dearing Jr., 89, formerly of Oak Hill, WV, passed Saturday, October 12, 2024 in Columbus, OH.

Clyde was born, August 12, 1935, to the late Francis and Clyde Dearing, Sr. of Glen Jean, WV.

Clyde was also preceded in death by his wife, Betty Christian Dearing; son, Lonnie Dearing and brothers, Gregory Smith, Melvin Smith and Leon Smith.

Clyde was a member of the First Baptist Church, Hilltop, WV, where he served as church treasurer for many years until the church was resolved. After the church closed, he continued to attend local churches until he became ill.
He loved the Lord, his wife “Betty”, family, music, sports and he loved to eat good food.

Clyde graduated in the class of 1953 from Dubois High School, Mt. Hope, WV. He was one of nine surviving alumni from his class and played quarterback for the “Dubois Little Blues” football team.

Clyde, later in his life, bowled and belonged to a bowling league, where he won several tournaments.

Clyde worked several jobs over the years, including Long-Airdox, Oak Hill, WV, Fayette County Schools and retired from Raleigh County Commission on Aging, Beckley, WV.

Clyde married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Betty Christian Dearing. He and Betty were married 61 years before the Lord called her home. To their union was born five children, Larry, Lonnie, Lynn, Debra and Carol.

Clyde leaves to mourn his children, Larry (Gaile) Dearing of Richmond, TX, Lynn (Celestine) Dearing of Cleveland, OH, Debra Dearing (Tim) Gilchrist of New Albany, OH and Carol Dearing Robinson of Cleveland, OH; daughter-in-law Gloria Hughes (Lonnie, deceased), Dearing of Oak Hill, WV; grandchildren, Michele Dearing, Danielle Dearing (Micah) Harris, Tasha Robinson (Charles) Simmons, Lamond (Linda) Dearing, Clifton Giles, Sasha Dearing and Tray Dearing; step-grandchildren, Tiffannee Hughes and DeMarcus
Hughes; great-grandchildren, Tashae Simmons, Jordan Harris, Luka Dearing, Chandler Harris, Charles Simmons and Lylah Dearing, sister, Deloris Dearing Calloway of Charleston, WV; brother, Marvin Smith of Charleston, WV; brother-in-law, Ergie Smith of Charlotte, NC and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Saturday, October 26, 20204 at Heart of God Ministries 1703 S. Kanawha St. Beckley. Entombment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Prosperity.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may visit with the family one-hour prior.
