Obituary For Mr. Cornelius Douglas Akers
Mr. Cornelius Douglas "Ray" Akers, 53, of Beckley, died Monday, August 6, 2018.
Born September 11, 1964 in Mullens, WV, he was the son of Johnnie Mae Jordan of Glen Rogers and the late Bobby Williams.
He was a high school graduate, a cook at Texas Road House, Logan's Roadhouse, Ruby Tuesday and was baptized at New Jerusalem Holiness Church, Glen White, under the Leadership of Elder Joe Hairston.
Ray was a quiet spirit and great son, brother, nephew, father, and friend. In addition to his father, Ray was preceded in death by his grandmother, Helen Carter and aunt, Vera Wright. In addition to his mother, left to cherish precious memories are his son, Christian Michael Akers of Beckley; daughter, Maggy Rose of Charleston; sister, Alenthia Denise Akers of Columbus, OH; aunt, Ruth Underwood of Glen Rogers and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 1:00 PM Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Greater New Jerusalem Holiness Church, Glen White, WV, with Bishop Fred Simms ad Pastor Rodney Keith Hill officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
