Obituary For Mr. Damon R. Butler

Mr. Damon R. Butler, 59, of Cincinnati, OH formerly of Beckley, WV, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Friday, December 26, 2025.

He was the beloved son of Robert and Barbara Moore of Beckley, WV. Damon was also a veteran of the United States Army, where he served proudly.

Da’Mon, as he was known in the art community, was an artist in every sense of the word, a creator, fashion designer, and caregiver, whose creativity knew no bounds. He had a remarkable gift for transforming ordinary objects into works of art and was widely admired for his originality and vision.

Damon affectionately referred to the jewelry he designed as “icing”. Often saying that the icing is the best part of the dessert. True to his nature, he marched to the beat of his own drum, lived life on his own terms, and embraced authenticity in all that he did. His was truly a life well lived.

Damon, in addition to his parents, is survived by his siblings, Terrill (Ron) Peck, Robyn (Leroy) Linen, and Robert (Aida) Moore III; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins; and adopted family members, dear friends, and loyal supporters. He shared a special bond with Michael Dillingham, whom he worked with for many years.

As per his request, he has been cremated. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, February 1, 2026 in Cincinnati, OH.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made in Damon’s name to the arts organization of your choice.

Our friendship spanning many years always comminated with a showing of love and respect offering a loving embrace towards kindness and empathy for each other and the community at large. I admired his talents and caring ways while sharing his loving heart and smile with everyone he encountered. My hope is that he'll meet me at those pearly gates adorned in his signature robe. Blessings to his family and friends. Rest in heavenly grace my dearest, much love Moana lott!
