Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

David Donnell McDowell, 35, of Oak Hill, WV died Tuesday, June 27, 2017.

Born January 18, 1982 in Beckley, WV, he was the son of David Lewis McDowell, Jr. and Jacqueline Grasty Coleman.

Donnell graduated from Fayetteville High School, attended Fairmont State College and worked for Combined Insurance before enlisting in the US Army. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was preceded in death by maternal grandparents, Hewett and Thelma Johnson Grasty, Sr. and uncles, Donovan McDowell and Hewett Grasty, Jr.

Left to cherish precious memories are his wife: Adrain McDowell; sons, Dylan Spain and Donovan McDowell; daughters, Alyssa Spain and Hannah McDowell; sisters, Junnell (Chris) Smith and Lisa Coleman; brother, James S. (Tabitha) Hall; second mother, Myra Cooley; grandparents, Rev. David and Julia McDowell, Sr. and a host of uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Special thanks to his military family.

Service will be 1:00p.m., Friday, July 7, 2017 at the First Baptist Church of Harlem Heights, 416 Broadway Avenue, Oak Hill, with Revs. Charles Blackman, William Stevens, Ella Dorsey and Deacon Mark Grasty officiating. Burial will follow in Highlawn Memorial Park, Oak Hill.
