Obituary For Mr. David Wayne Harbison

Born November 1, 1960, David Wayne Harbison was one of four children gifted to the union of Alberta Edmond-Harbison and Earl Harbison.

David was raised in Denver, CO, and educated in the Denver Public Schools system. He participated in a pilot training program and worked with United Airlines.

In 1988, he met and fell in love with Charlotte D. Edwards. The two were joined in Holy Matrimony in 1992.

David’s calm, firm demeanor, and even temperament was well-suited for his job as bus operator with the Regional Transit District of Denver, CO. He retired from this position in 2007. After retirement, he moved to Beckley, WV. He was a member of Triumphant Life Ministries. David loved music, writing several songs.

David’s favorite pass-time was fishing and fixing up cars, especially old, antique cars. He could be found shopping at antique stores acquiring different pieces. But, more than fishing and cars, he grew to love the Word of God. His favorite scripture was II Chronicles 7:14. And, he deeply loved his family. He was a gentle giant. The kindness could be seen in his eyes and posture, heard in his voice and observed through his actions.

He was described by his youngest granddaughter as “fun, nice, and kind.”

With his devoted wife and daughters by his side, David peacefully transitioned from this life to eternal life on May 30, 2022.

He was preceded in death by father, and son, Kareem “Korey” Hawthorne.

David leaves to cherish precious memories, his wife, Charlotte D. Harbison; sons, Gregory Buckmon of Lima, OH and Lamon Hawthorne of Lexington, KY; daughters, Kimara (James) Carter of Charleston, WV and Linda (Yves) Pierre Dallas, TX; mother, Alberta Edmond-Harbison of Seale, AL; brothers, Christopher Harbison of Dalzell, SC and Larry Harbison of Seale, AL; sister, Barbara Garcia of Denver, CO; 20 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A private memorial service will be held in Beckley, WV.

A public memorial service will be held in Denver, CO on June 11, 2022.
