Obituary For Mr. Dennis Rudolph "Jake" Price Sr.

Mr. Dennis Rudolph Price, more affectionately called Jake, was born in Greentown, West Virginia, on March 14, 1935. Dennis was the faithful and devoted son of his Mother, Lillie B. Price. He was the caring brother of Emogene "Teny" Dandridge. He was married to Charlotte James, and the loving father of Dennis, Jr., born to this union. He was also the nurturing uncle of Yonsia Dandridge, all of whom preceded him in death.

Dennis graduated from DuBois High School, Mt. Hope, West Virginia. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the U. S. Air Force where he served tours of duty in Vietnam, Germany, Japan and numerous stateside assignments . Upon retiring from the USAF, Dennis and his family resided in Oxon Hill, Maryland, and for 22 years was employed by the U. S. Postal Service. He was an active member of Kendall Baptist Church in Suitland, Maryland.

Not long after retiring from the Postal Service, he moved back to his place of birth - Greentown, West Virginia - to be close to his family. There he immediately became an active member of that community; served on the DuBois High School Alumni Association Reunion Committee; was a staunch member of the First Missionary Baptist Church of Greentown, where he served for many years, until his short-term illness prevented him from active participation. His last move was to the Hilltop Health Center in Hilltop, West Virginia, where he spent his last days.

Dennis loved people, and people loved him. He was friendly, generous, kind, and funny - never at a lost for a quick comeback with a joke. He made friends easily and had many friends. He was a "master host" who never turned down an opportunity to entertain family and friends.

Dennis adored his family. He was the proud dad of Jason James, grandfather of Dennis (Lil' Denny) Scott, Jasmine James, and Ryan Scott, all who are left to cherish his memories. Dennis was also the nurturing uncle of Fonda Dandridge Brooks, and is survived by a host of cousins, relatives, and friends.

This amazing person gave joy to so many - and, whether you called him Dad, granddad, Jake, Uncle Jake, Dennis, Mr. Jake, Mr. Price, or simply "my buddy" - whether you were a relative friend, neighbor, or caregiver - each of us holds in our hearts memories that will fill the timeline of his 85 years of his blessed life. We will miss your laughter, your smile, and your spirit.

Graveside service will be 1:00PM Saturday, August 29, 2020 at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens 2150 Pea Ridge Road, Oak Hill, WV. Private visitation, which will include a memorial service for Ms. Andrea Christine "Scooby" Wilson, will be 11:00AM - 12:00PM at the Ritchie & Johnson Funeral Parlor 748 S. Fayette St. Beckley.

Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, masks, gloves and social distancing will be required to attend the service. Email condolences to ritchie-johnson@suddenlinkmail.com.

Arrangements entrusted to Ritchie & Johnson Funeral Parlor, Beckley.

You could always count on Jake for a laugh and to keep you smiling. He was always about family. His smile and stories will truly be missed. As some people journey through life, they leave footprints wherever they go~~footprints of kindness and love, courage and compassion, humor and inspiration, joy and faith. Even when they're gone, we can still look back and see the trail they left behind ~ ~a trail bright with hope that invites us to follow. Follow Jakes trail, keep smiling and keep loving one another as GOD loves us, until we see him again. May the peace of GOD surround you during this time of sorrow. All my love and prayers. Marlyn
