Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mr. DeShawn Frederick Bass was the first-born child to Frederick Gore and Christie Bass in Charleston, WV on March 24, 1976.

DeShawn departed this life Thursday, December 15, 2022, in Beckley, WV. He has gone to join his mother, Christie Bass; brother, Christopher Lewis and sister, Kiesha Canada Gore.

DeShawn graduated from Mt. Hope High School, Class of 1994, where he was a star football player and later attended Marshall University in Huntington, WV. Although his football playing days were over, DeShawn was a huge football fan, so don’t bother him during Sunday and Monday night football!!

DeShawn married his high school sweetheart, Christina Bass. This union was blessed with three children, Cierria, Kameron and Khori.

DeShawn’s untimely passing occurred on Thursday, December 15, 2022 at Raleigh General Hospital in Beckley, WV.

He leaves to mourn and cherish his fond memories his uncle and caretaker, Gregory Bass; mother of his children, Christina Bass; his children, Cierria, Kameron and Khori; father, Frederick Gore of Clinton, MD; sister, Shavon Canada Gore of Dehab, Egypt; brother, Frederick Gore III of District Heights, MD and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at the Glorious Church of God in Christ 421 Main St. Mt. Hope with Elder Thomas Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view and visit with the family one hour prior.
