Obituary For Mr. Donald Paul Bass

Mr. Donald Paul Bass, 76, of Mount Hope, WV transitioned after a long illness on July 14, 2026.

Paul was born March 12, 1950 in Sun, WV, he was the last born of eleven children to the late Ulysses and Pauline Fleming Bass.

Paul, in 1958 with the Bass Family moved from Sun, WV to the City of Mt. Hope. In 1968, he graduated from Mount Hope High School, home of the Mustangs. From there he moved to New York, where he drove a truck delivering clothes. Moving back to Mt. Hope in 1999, he worked for the housing authority and construction. in 2012, he retired from the Housing Authority after being diagnosed with cancer. Although fighting that battle, he was a “Jack of all trades” for so many people in his community, repairing and doing multiple jobs.

Paul, in addition to his parents, was preceded in death by his siblings, Virginia Ratliff, Henry Bass, Alese Bass, Emma Jean “Molly” Bass, Ulysses Bass Jr., Joe Bass, Edward Bass and Willard Bass.

Paul leaves to cherish precious memories his son, Tyrone Bass of Mt. Hope, WV; grandson, Zaiden Bass, whom he loved so much; sister, Mary Bass Wells of Brooklyn, NY; dear friend, Kathleen Scott; many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Thursday, July 23, 2026 at the Glorious Church of God in Christ 421 Main St. Mt. Hope.

Friends may view and visit with the family one-hour prior.

    Family my heartfelt and sincere condolences! I'll never forget your Paul! He has always been like a brother to me, always looking out for my best interest! He always loved Christmas and spring decorating with me and those were the days we had the most fun! I'll forever treasure those memories.
