Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mr. Donald L. Green, better known as Uncle D, was born May 5, 1954, in Beckley, WV to the late Theodore Roosevelt Green Sr. and Claudia M. Green. He passed away suddenly on March 21, 2022, at the age of 67.

Donald was raised in a small coal camp town called Fireco, with his eight siblings.

Donald later moved to Beckley, where he found a job working for Riffe Branch Coal Mine in East Gulf, WV. He later worked as a construction worker for 15 years. Due to an injury, he retired at an early age.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James Green, twin, Ronald Green, and companion of 33 years, Alda Cox.

Donald leaves to cherish precious memories his sons, Damien “DD” Cox of Fayetteville, NC, and Donald Cox of VA; six grandchildren; six siblings, Betty Rutledge and Thomas Green, both of Brooklyn, NY, Rosetta Green (Andre) of Walnut Cove, NC, Theodore R.“Ted” (Billie) Green Sr., Charles (Alinda) Green and Danny (Debbie) Green, all of Beckley; special friend, Kent Bailey; two great- great nieces whom he adored Amina and Ava McSpadden; special aunt, Willa M. Hawkins of Detroit, MI; two nieces, Coretta and Nikita King that helped care for him. “Well Done Good and Faithful Servant”

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at Heart of God Ministries 1703 S. Kanawha St. Beckley with Bishop Fred T. Simms officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends, while wearing mask and observing social distancing, may view one hour prior to the service at the church.
