Obituary For Mr. Donnell Dewayne Jasper

Mr. Donnell Dewayne Jasper, 62, passed away at Plateau Medical Center on Wednesday, January 12, 2022, after a short illness.

Donnell, affectionately known as 'Donnie', was born on February 24, 1959, to Thomas E. and G. Louise Jasper in Oak Hill, WV.

He was a 1977 graduate of Fayetteville High School. After graduation, he moved to MD and graduated from Montgomery College, Rockville, MD. In 1981, Donnie enlisted in the US Air Force. Following his graduation from the US Air Force Academy in San Antonio, Texas, he worked as an Air Force Medic at Little Rissington Air Force Base in Gloucestershire, England, and Plattsburgh Air Force Base in Plattsburgh, NY. It was in Plattsburg, NY, where Donnie recommitted his life to the Lord. After being honorably discharged from the US Air Force, Donnie moved to back to WV and worked in the customer service and healthcare industries. Once Donnie decided to follow Jesus, there was no turning back. He joined Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Garten, WV, where he became a deacon and held several auxiliaries. Within the last few years, he joined Cunard Baptist Church. Donnie loved the Lord. His life was one of service, love, compassion, and devotion. When he was not working his job as a home healthcare aide, he could be found in one of many community churches praising the Lord.

Donnie will be missed by his family, friends, and community.

He leaves to mourn his sister, Kimberly and nephew, Brandon of Silver Spring, MD, brother, Randall and nephew, Azizi, Flint of MI, brother, Larry (Martha) Jasper of Hercules, CA; aunt, Trula Wilson of Charleston, WV; uncles, Larry Wilson of Jonesboro, GA, James (Monica) Wilson of Germany, and Wayman (Patricia) Wilson of Charleston, WV and a host of cousins, other relatives, and friends.

As per his request he has been cremated.

Memorial service will be 11AM Saturday, January 29, 2022 at Cunard Baptist Church, 1730 Cunard Road, Fayetteville, WV 25840.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to his cousin's food pantry, The Helen M. Powell Food Pantry (located at SALS Historic Oak Hill School 140 School St. Oak Hill WV 25901. A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the BEST. Donnie had an extraordinary spirit and loved all with whom he came in contact with. That smile I will never forget, His warm caring voice I will never forget, His gentle and humble ways I will never forget. I enjoyed speaking to Donnie on the phone, he had a way of making me feel at peace, I felt good, his calmness would rub off on me. He would always bring back nice memories of our childhood in Cunard. We shared a wonderful childhood. For years my family the Agee, Rogers and other families relied on Donnie to make sure the landscaping of our cemetery would get completed. He never let us down. Job well done. Donnie was truly a beautiful person, I will miss him dearly. My deepest sincere condolences to his family. Tracie Rogers

Deacon Donnie worked as caregiver for Billy James(my brother) for the past 8 years or so. The James family was so thankful to God for sending such a Godly person into Billy's home. There was a lot of prayers and celebrating Jesus and our Salvation whenever me,Viola, and my sisters came home. 1John 5:11-12 says "We can KNOW we have Eternal Life" Deacon Donnie KNEW he was going to heaven. We,the James family, send our deepest regards to the Jasper family. We all Loved you, Deacon Donnie, but Jesus Loved you Best and Perfectly! Signed—Billy, Viola, Lucy, Brenda, Frankie, Dee

Donnie Jasper was a prince among men in stature and a man of impeccable character. He was truly a man of God.. often referred to as "an angel". The Pittman/Thomas family had the awesome privilege of growing up with Donnie in our quaint little coal camp community of Brooklyn. We were so privileged and honored to claim him as one of our own; "mama's 5th. son". He was flawless in expressing genuine love to each of us at every opportunity. It was always a delight to find him at the door. He shared a special love with "mama" and Robert Lee. His acts of kindness and thoughtfulness always seemed to supercede the preceding one! He was faithful to stop by "mama's" on every special occasion (buthday, Mother's Day, Valentines Day, Christmas....) In spite of our close relationship that spanned decades, he always maintained an attitude of carefulness, integrity, respect and such a degree of love that portrayed how treasured and cherished our association really was. He never failed to express a high level of agape love or to have a humble prayer at each encounter. The world has lost a rare and irreplaceable man; it will never be the same. He will be forever missed but never forgotten. We loved him dearly; all our love and prayers to all his family and friends.

I know I am speaking for all of those from the Cunard and Brooklyn communities who knew this great man. Mr. Jasper was one in a million. One of the most sincere, sweet, gentle, loving individuals you will ever meet. He was deeply loved and respected by all who were privileged to call him a friend. He will be sorely missed. We grieve together with his family, but also rejoice with them knowing He is forever safe in the Father's loving arms. I want to send my love and condolences to all of his family, and a special message of love and prayers to his sister, my dear, dear friend, Kimberly. With all my love, Regina Day Snuffer.
