Mr. Douglas Joe Ezell Smith, 90, of Beckley, WV, died Friday, November 1, 2019 in Beckley, WV.

Douglas was born August 9, 1929 in Beckley, WV, he was the son of the late Joe Ezell and Mary Jennie Hurt Smith.

Douglas was a retired mechanic, an avid gardener, he also loved fishing, hunting and was into physical fitness, such as karate.

Douglas, in addition to his parents, was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel; children, Walter L. “Lucky” Townes and Shelby Nicole Smith; brothers, Willie Gray Smith and David Daniel Smith; sisters, Katherine “Rene” Seay, Annie Mae Scott, Pearl Lee Ruffin, Dorothy Josephine Kincannon and Sally Marie Turner; grandparents, William M. Hurt, Martha Coleman Hurt, Vince A. Smith and Pocahontas “Polly” Smith and great-grandparents, George Hurt and Gincie Hurt.

Douglas leaves to cherish precious memories his sons, Douglas Marcel Smith of Cranston, RI; Douglas Ezell Smith of Beckley; daughter, Kim Harpool of Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Wentri “Tracy” Williams, Wesley L. Townes, Derick Harpool, Dericka Harpool, and Jahmor Smith; great-grandchildren, Cameron Williams and Zion Williams and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 2:00PM Sunday, November 10, 2019 at the Holiness Church of Jesus, 127 Ringleben St., Beckley, with Minister Joshua Murray officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
