Obituary For Mr. Dwight Reed Wilborne

Mr. Dwight Reed Wilborne was the son of the late Arthur Reed Wilborne and Marcella Kessler Wilborne.

He was born in Greentown, WV on June 3, 1943 and completed his assignment here on earth Sunday, January 30, 2022.

He was a member of Greentown Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Essie Ford. Dwight was educated in the Fayette County School System and was a graduate of the legendary Collins High School, Oak Hill, WV. Following his high school education, Dwight joined the military under the United States Armed Forces (Army). Upon his return from the military, Dwight’s work history includes: Penny Fare Grocery Store (stock boy), Hecks Department Store (Store Manager), Burlington Coat Factory (Store Manager) and Bayer Cropscience (Pipefitter) until his retirement in 2010.

Dwight had a love for bowling and was a member of several leagues prior to his illness. He also loved working around his home and fixing anything that was broken. One of his favorite things to do was making regular visits to Lowe's Hardware and Walmart Stores. He looked forward to spring and summer as he took pride in his garden and had a love for grilling as well. Dwight was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Marcella Wilborne; wife, Greta D. Wilborne; brother, Ronald Wilborne and nephew, DeWayne Wilborne. Those left to reflect and cherish his memory are his daughters, Chaunte’ Wilborne Anderson of Winfield, WV and Cassandra Henderson of So. Charleston, WV; their mother, Tennis Wilborne; grandsons, RaShaun and Geoffrey Wilborne of So. Charleston, WV and Quanda Wilborne and D’Aryius Palmore of So. Charleston, WV; granddaughters, Riyhada (fiancé, William Terry) Wilborne of Cross Lanes, WV, and Gavaughna Wilborne of Charleston, WV; great-grandchildren, Arliyah, Aunzajha, NaZiah, Noah, Kavaeda, Jazaria and Noel; brothers, Kevin (Carolyn) Wilborne of Nitro, WV and Terrance Wilborne of Oak Hill, WV and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. May we all be inspired by his service to our country and genuine love for his family.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at the Ritchie & Johnson Funeral Parlor Chapel 748 S. Fayette St, Beckley with Rev. Essie Ford officiating. Burial will follow in Gethsemane Memorial Gardens 2150 Pea Ridge Road, Oak Hill.
