Obituary For Mr. George Admiral "Dewey" Brown Jr.
Mr. George Admiral “Dewey” Brown Jr., 95 of Beckley, WV transitioned to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on Tuesday, January 16, 2024, after battling a short illness.
Born on December 20, 1928, in Helen WV, George was the son of the late George Brown Sr. and Clergy Brown.
“Mr. Brown”, as he was best known, worked as an x-ray tech at Raleigh General Hospital, Beckley, WV during the early years of his life. Later in his life his occupations included: coal mining, skilled laborer and worked in the maintenance dept at Belk Department Store before retiring at the age of 81. He was a member of the UMWA Local #5770 and also served in the military as an Army Veteran.
“Mr. Brown” was a man with many good characteristics. He had a way of making anyone laugh that came in contact with hm. His personality was one that was long-lasting. He was a hardworking man. He had unconditional love for his wife, Ardelia Gore Brown and his family. He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior at an early age. When able to attend church, he attended Outreach for Life Christian Center under the direction of Pastor Thomas Steelman.
“Mr. George” loved to repair anything that he could with “duct” tape and “Super Glue” always working on a “project”. His ability of counting the “Dollar Bills” earned him the title of Mr. G $ (money). Small in stature, but “Large” in Heart! He will certainly be missed by everyone blessed to call him “Father", “Daddy George”, “Pops”, “Cool Breeze” “Granddad”, “Brother”, and “Friend”.
Mr. Brown, in addition to his parents, was preceded in death by his loving wife, Ardelia Gore Brown; sons, Winston Scott, Alphonso Scott, and George Brown; daughter, Cynthia Steelman; brothers, Eugene, Thomas, Lorenzo, and Betrand Brown; and sister, Anna Brown Cross.
