Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mr. George "Skeets" Blakey, Jr., 82, of Mt. Hope, WV, formerly of Whipple, WV died Sunday April 30, 2017.

Born July 18, 1935 in Anjean, WV, he was the son of the late George Blakey Sr. and Polly Haston Blakey.

Mr. Blakey worked at Oak Hill Hospital and White Oak Country Club. In his later years, he provided "taxi service" for many in his community.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Geraldine; and nephew, Huell Bass.

Those left to cherish precious memories are his brother, Leroy (wife, Marjorie) Blakey of Danville, KY; sister, Amanda Blakey of Brooklyn, NY; nephews, Gregory Bass of Mt. Hope, WV, Kenny Bass of Brooklyn, NY, Ricky Blakey of Brooklyn, NY, Neil Blakey of Long Island, NY, Reggie Bass of Georgia, Butch Weaver of Brooklyn, NY, Anthony Stephens of MD and Gary Blakey of KY; nieces, Teressa Blakey of Brooklyn NY, Christie Bass of Manhattan, NY, Linda Blakey of NJ, Carla Blakey of KY and Dianne Bass, Kesha Bass, Samantha Wells, all of Brooklyn, NY; brother-in-law Paul Bass Mt. Hope, WV; sisters-in-law, Mary Wells and Molly Bass, both of Brooklyn, NY and a host of great-nephews, great-nieces, other relatives and friends, all of whom loved him dearly.

Funeral service will be 12 :00 P.M. Saturday, May 6, 2017 at Glorious Church of God in Christ, 421 Main Street, Mt. Hope, WV with Elder Robert Hicks officiating. Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
