Obituary For Mr. Harry T. Burger

Mr. Harry T. Burger, 91, of Beckley, died Wednesday, July 7, 2021 in Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital. Born November 12, 1929 in Raleigh, WV, he was the son of the late Charlie and Mary Crowder Burger. Mr. Burger was a shoe repairman, custodian for the Board of Education and a member of Welcome Baptist Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Elsie; sons, Carl and Milton; brothers, Alfred, Arthur, Layton, Lawrence, Lovey, and James Burger; sisters, Thelma, Lelia Nabors and Leona Calloway. Those left to cherish precious memories are his wife Mary A. Burger; daughters, Shelia Stone of Greensboro, NC and Felicia Burger of Beckley; step-children, Zena Epps of Winston-Salem, NC, Sean Bradley of Washington, DC, and Marietta (Alfredo “Derrick”) Bowden of Woodbridge, VA; 19 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; 9 great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00PM Thursday July 15, 2021 at Welcome Baptist Church 206 Eighth St. Beckley with Rev. Paul Baker and Bishop David Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends, while wearing gloves and masks and observing social distancing, may view one hour prior to the service.
