Mr. Jalen Laqua Joe, 23, of Beckley was a fatal victim of a senseless act died Thursday, March 14, 2019.

Born July 19, 1995 in Beckley, WV, he was the son of Juanita Chevon Joe of Beckley, WV.

He worked as a line cook.

Preceding him in death are his sister, Angel Faith Joe; uncles, Kenneth Joe, June Joe; and aunt, Willie Mae Joe.

He will be remembered forever and ever by all of us, his kin and kith and to all who would call Jalen Joe his family and friend.

Jalen, known in life as the son, father, man, born autochthonous in the West Virginia Estate; was a very respectable young man, a fashionable authority in his own right, with a smile that would light up the room each time he entered. He could relate to everyone. His courage as a protector made him our hero.

In addition to his beloved mother, those left to share precious memories are his son, Jalen Laqua Joe, Jr.; daughter, London Faith Joe; grandmothers, Virginia Joe and Camilla Mays; brother, Tyrell Green; sister, Mariah Shaunte Green; Marvin Salmon, Shelia Salmon, Flora Loretta (Antonio) Edwards, Angela Vercline, Danellie Stewart, Aroku El (Art), Mary Stewart(Calvin) Payne, Almeda McDowell, Terah McDowell, Bernice Criniti; special cousins, Brandon Powell and Kayla Joe; best friends, Resean Smith and Hameen Cowan and a host of other cousins, relatives, and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00PM Monday, March 25, 2019 at Heart of God Ministries 1703 South Kanawha St., Beckley with Bishop Fred T. Simms officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may call from 11:00AM-1:00PM with the family receiving friends at 12:00PM.
