Obituary For Mr. James A. Goodall
Mr. James Alexander “Goodie” Goodall, 71, of Glen White, was born in Covel, WV on March 19, 1951 to the late Raymond T. and Willie Mae Cook Goodall Sr.
James transitioned home to be with his Heavenly Father on May 22, 2022 in J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital following a long term medical condition.
James was an avid gardener, photographer, a great cook in his own right, a sportsman, gun and car enthusiast, emergency medical technician/paramedic, emergency room technician at Beckley ARH Hospital, instrumental in helping establish previous emergency guidelines in WV healthcare, owner and operator of several Nutrisystem Weight Loss Centers in WV, logistics manager at Crosier’s Sanitary Service Inc., a computer program and repair technician, a computer PC build technician, a digital programmer, a security system installer, an entrepreneur who created herbal creams, a repairman and restored of anything from appliances, computers, lawnmowers etc. If it didn’t work, bring it to James Goodall.
James engaged in daily learning of new things, his favorite quote, “Work the problem”. He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School and attended Beckley College. He found employment in many areas including a Steel Mill in Chicago, Beckley Appalachian Regional Hospital, Heart of God Ministries, Crosier’s Sanitary Service Inc., owner and operator of Nutrisystem Weight Loss Centers, digital programming and as a herbal cream entrepreneur. He attended Shady Grove Baptist Church as a child. Above all of this, James never met a stranger and was a friend to many.
James was one of the good guys. He was a true friend to Beckley/Southern West Virginia Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity Inc. according to Paul Mitchell.
James, in addition to his parents, was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond T. Goodall Jr. and Kermit L. Goodall.
James leaves to cherish his precious memories his son, Antoni Jameel Hairston of Okinawa, Japan; Antoni’s mother, Rue Hairston of Glen White; brothers, William C. (Larvell) Goodall of Chicago, IL, Maurice (Xavier) Goodall of Henrico, VA and Orlando H (Arlene) Goodall of Chicago, IL; sister, Patty Jo Leftwich of Beckley; granddaughter, Hinano Hairston and grandson, Leslie Hairston of Okinawa, Japan; long time domestic partner, Shirley Stanley of Beckley; special nephew, James Chambers of North Plainfield, NJ; a few special friends, Mary Crozier, Sandra Clark, Kenny Logwood, Paul Mitchell, James Roop, Larry Goode; cousins, Gary and Ronald Hairston; and a host of other relatives and many friends including James Gregory.
Rest easy, “Goodie” in the arms of God.
As per his request, he has been cremated.
Memorial service will be 1:00PM Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at Heart of God Ministries 1703 S. Kanawha St. Beckley with Bishop Fred T. Simms officiating.
