Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mr. James Burger, 84, of Beckley died Wednesday, April 19, 2017.

Born September 14, 1932 in Raleigh, he was the son of the late Charlie Burger and Mary Crowder Burger.

He worked for Earhart Car Dealership, served in the US Air Force, was a coal miner for twenty years and a member of Welcome Baptist Church.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rosetta Dow Burger; sisters, Thelma Burger, Lelia Nabors and Leona Calloway; brothers, Alfred, Lovey, Layton, Lawrence (Mary Edna) and Arthur Burger; niece, Darlene Berger; nephews, Gilbert and Alphonso Calloway, Milton, Lovey Jr., Milford Burger, Carl English, and Eugene Berger.

Those left to cherish precious memories are his brother, Harry Burger; his nephews and nieces, R. Michael, Lawrence, James, and Ralph Burger, Eugene and Ernest Nabors, Margaret, Patricia, Dorothy, Delores, Tammy, and Felica Burger, Marlene Nabors, Deborah Walton, Candice Amos, Tammy Calloway, Dianne Tucker, Jerimaine Winston, Arlene Thomas, and Sheila Stone; step-daughter, Nicole Dow Jones; three step-grandchildren; caregiver, April Patterson; other relatives and friends.

The Family will receive friends at 510 Hunter Street, Beckley.

Funeral service will be 12:00 P.M. Monday, April 24, 2017 at Welcome Baptist Church, 206 Eighth Street, Beckley, with Bishop David Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends may call at one hour prior to the service at the church.
