Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mr. James Edward “Eddie” Gray Sr., 55, of Oak Hill, WV passed Monday, December 19, 2022, after a long illness.

James was born January 10, 1967, in Oak Hill. WV, he was the son of Shirley Gray of Oak Hill, WV and the late William Edward Gray.

James was a 1985 graduate of Mount Hope High School. Prior to his initial stroke in 2017, he worked for Advanced Auto Parts for 15plus years and was an avid fisherman and hunter, who enjoyed playing Yahtzee and hosting family cookouts. After his stroke, he devoted as much of his time as possible to his grandchildren and kids. His grandbabies were his world.

James, in addition to his father, was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives.

James, in addition to his mother, leaves to cherish precious memories his children, James “Lil Eddie” Gray Il of Scarbro. WV, Brianna Gray of Charleston, WV, Ta`Lisa Gray of Sophia, WV, Courtney Spencer of Beckley, WV, Jordan Gray of Scarbro, WV; grandchildren, Jade Adkins of Hilltop, WV, James Gray III and Myra Gray, both of Oak Hill, WV, Jordan Gray Il and Julius Gray, both of Scarbro, WV, Keely Gray of Charleston, WV, Ken`Yon Gray of Sophia, WV; sisters, Deborah (Robert) Dupree, Sandy Gray and Deeanna (Clint) Lawson, all of Oak Hill, WV, Myra Allen of Long Beach, NY, Lisa (Darrell) Patterson of Cane Ridge, TN, Eva Wilson and Amy (Neil) Lewis, both of Beckley, WV, and Patrice (Robert) Belcher of South Point, OH; brothers, William Gray of Beckley, WV, Timothy Gray and Terreque (Megan) Gray, both of Oak Hill, WV, Wesley Gray of Mount Hope, WV, Michael (Alesia) Gray of Forest Lake, MN, Philip (Carey) Gray of Scarbro, WV; lifelong best friend, Anthony Bell of Scarbro, WV and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends Funeral service will be 12:00PM Saturday, December 31, 2022 at the Glorious Church of God in Christ 421 Main St. Mt. Hope with Elder Lewis Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view and visit with the family one hour prior.
