Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mr. James Glen "Tro" Patterson, 59, of Mt. Hope, WV passed away at home peacefully, Saturday, May 1, 2021.

Born May 19, 1962 in Mount Hope, he was the son of Thelma Green Patterson and the late James H. Patterson Sr.

Affectionately known as “Tro”, James was a 1980 graduate of Mount Hope High School, member of United Missionary Baptist Church. He played football, was an avid gardener, carpenter/mason and loved trucks. “Tro” was a family person and loved having a good time. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by brothers, Toney, Ronald and Donald; grandfather, James H. Patterson Sr.; and grandmothers, Catherine L. Gray and Marie Patterson.

In addition to his mother, those left to cherish precious memories are his brothers, Michael Green of Mount Hope, Kenneth W. (Iris) Patterson of Gulfport, MS, and Daniel Patterson of Petersburg, VA; sisters, Patricia Hicks, Velma (Thomas) Allen, and Darlene (Tom) Brown, all of Mount Hope and Brenda Gray of Oak Hill; special friend, Michael Payne of CA and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00PM Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Glorious Church of God in Christ 421 Main St. Mt. Hope with Elder Thomas Allen officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends, while wearing gloves and masks and observing social distancing, may view one hour prior to the service.
