Obituary For Mr. Jason David Lee Walton

Mr. Jason David Lee Walton, 42, of Beckley, WV passed away suddenly Thursday, May 19, 2022, at Appalachian Regional Hospital, with his family by his side. Jason was born Feb 3, 1980 in Beckley. WV to Ms. Gloria “Vip” Walton, then was later adopted by his grandparents Mr. Roy Lee and Gloria Anna Walton, who raised him to be the kind, caring, loving, joyful man he was. Jason was a member of Central Baptist Church, where he was baptized at an early age and was a member of the men's choir alongside his grandad. Jason attended Woodrow Wilson High School. At the time of his passing he was employed in the deli at the Beckley Walmart. Jason was formerly a manager at the Subway in Beckley. He loved to cook as reflected in his many years working as a cook/chef in Beckley, WV. He also worked as a chef in Virginia Beach, VA. Jason loved to travel and worked in different states. He was employed with Parks & Recreations in Sandusky OH, and Babies-R-Us, and Carolina Steel in Greensboro NC. The most important part of Jason’s life to him was his two sons, Jasiah and Caiden Walton. He was proud to be a father and loved spending time with his sons. Jason once said that his favorite thing to do in life was to laugh, as he did every time you would see him. He laughed and would make you laugh with him. He was never without a smile. Jason was not only our family comedian, but he was also a fan of rap. He had notebooks and notebooks full of rap songs that he had written and performed in local establishments in WV or wherever he traveled. He also loved cooking, and eating and could be found taking over the grill at family gatherings. If you knew him you knew he was the biggest Kansas City Chiefs fan on the planet. He loved the Chiefs as his favorite saying was “Cheifs Y'all” (purposely spelling it wrong). But still Jason LOVED his two sons, Jasiah Jaroy Walton & Caiden Christiano Walton more than anything in this world. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brothers, James A. Walton Sr. and Brandon Lamar Walton; grandma, Ms. Edmonia Oakley and uncle, Michael Scales. Left to cherish his memories are his sons, Jasiah Jaroy Walton, Caiden Christiano Walton, both of Beckley WV; his mother, Mrs. Gloria A. Walton;, his birth mother, Ms. Gloria (Vip) Walton; brothers, Roy L.( Linda) Walton of Fairmont WV, Robert L. (Janet) Walton of Beckley WV, Nate S. (Tammy) Walton of Glen Burnie MD, Paul A. Walton of Greensboro, NC, Michael J. Walton of Creedmoor, NC, and Larry Jamar Walton Sr of Beckley WV; sisters, Verblena L. Walton-Crummel of Harrisburg PA, Alice F. Walton-Nelson of Oak Hill, WV, Veronica L. Walton, Julianna M. Sweatte, Diana M. Walton, Lisa D. Walton, all of Beckley WV and Daisy M. Walton of Columbus OH; nieces, Jamara Walton, Kaleinah Walton, Kamari Walton, and Ameiya Branham; nephews, Larry Jamar Walton Jr. and Tyrique Davis; uncles, Kenny (Shelia) Walton and Raymond Gilliam, both of PA, Daryl Scales and Timothy Scales both of Beckley, WV; aunts, Alma Webb of PA, Valerie Long of WV, Joann Scales of Charleston WV; special cousins, Ajani, Bryan, Bobby, Jimmy, Kimberlee, Tamara, Tara, Roderick, Robbie, Chris, Von, Andrea, Mario, Isaiah, Courtney, Erica, Tyrone, Mona and many many more; the mother of his two boys, Christina Price and his lifelong best friend, since fourth grade, James Shelton. Jason, you were a funny, easy going , laid back, and a beautiful soul. You were a big, big part of The Walton Family and we are truly going to miss You!!!! WE LOVE YOU!!!!!

As per his request, he has been cremated.

Funeral service will be 1:00PM Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Central Baptist Church Brooks & G. Sts. Beckley with Pastor Franklin Hairston and Bishop David Allen officiating.

Peace be upon Jason & his family. This story is surreal - Jason went to Cedar Point in Ohio to work because I told him that was my plan. I quit the Outback Steakhouse in 1999. The day I was leaving I explained that I was getting on train. I was going to work, try something different & I explained where it was. 4 months later one day sitting at a stand at work in the park Jason walked around the corner. He yelled my name, put his hand on my shoulder and we laughed. He said I listened to what you said then I called cedar point, now here I am. That was the kind of guy he was...Peace brother.
