Obituary For Mr. Jerry Tanks

Mr. Jerry Cooper Tanks was born October 8, 1934 in Killarney, WV to Hilda and Ernest Tanks.

Jerry, on December 14, 2023, after a period of illness, went home to be with the Lord.

Jerry attended Byrd Prillerman High School and served two years in US Army.

Jerry, when discharged from US army, was employed as a roofer and married the late Louise Maxine Walker.

Jerry had a quiet and gentle manner. He enjoyed gardening, was kind to everyone, always encouraging and advising in the right way. He was willing to help anyone who was in need and loved reading the Bible and books pertaining to the Lord. He attended Heart of God Church.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Hilda Tanks; brothers, Harold, Ernest Jr, Alphonso, Leon, Larry, and James and sister, Patty Jo Ross.

Jerry leaves to cherish his memory his sisters, Ernestine Dozier and Leigh (Loto) Penny; brother, Tyrone (Vicky) Tanks and a host of other loving relatives and friends.

“The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. He maketh me to lie down in green pastures. He leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul:he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil for thou art with me, thy rod and thy staff they comfort me. Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies.Thou anointest my head with oil, my cup runneth over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Amen.

As per his request, he has been cremated.
