Obituary For Mr. Jerry Terry

Mr. Jerry Lewis Terry, 89, of Beckley, WV passed Sunday, December 21, 2025.

Jerry was born on March 3, 1936 in Sprague, WV, he was the son of the late Jessie Lee Terry Sr. and Rosetta Gilbert.

Jerry joined the US Army in 1957 and served in the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on June 30, 1961.

Jerry moved to Chicago, IL, where he worked at Northwestern Memorial Hospital in Environmental Services and retired.

Jerry, after moving back to Beckley, WV in 1999, always helped family and friends. He visited the sick, took many to doctor appointments and to the store.

Jerry was a member of Welcome Baptist Church, under the late Bishop David Allen and currently Pastor Gloria Allen. He performed many duties and was always the first there and the last to leave.

Jerry, in addition to his parents, was preceded in death by his brothers, Rubin, Lawatha, and Jessie Lee Jr. and sisters, Mary Story, Shirley Wallington, and Delois Coleman.

Jerry leaves to cherish his memories his brothers, Charles A. Terry of Phoenix, AZ, Mose M. Terry of Chicago, IL, William H. Terry of Beckley, WV and Floyd G. Terry of Chicago, IL; many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and his Welcome Baptist Church Family.

Jerry will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Family directed memorial service will be 2:00PM Saturday, April 11, 2026 at Welcome Baptist Church 206 Eighth St. Beckley.

    Jerry was a good man, a church-going man and a great friend and neighbor to my deceased Aunt Esther Smith. i didn't know him extremely well but from what I did see and know of him he was a good Christian and always helpful, cheerful and warm. My condolences to the family and may Jerry rest in peace. Rick Bibbs
