Obituary For Mr. Jessie Tyrone “Chase” Witten

Mr. Jesse Tyrone “Chase” Witten, 70, of Beckley, WV, passed away Thursday, December 18, 2025 at his residence.

Chase was born August 21, 1955, he was the son of the late Jessie Lee Witten and Clarice Royster Leftwich.

“Chase”, as he was affectionately known, was a 1974 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School, where he excelled running track. He enlisted in the United States Navy, where he served his Country.

Chase was also a talented painter and loved to walk around his neighborhood, play cards and watch television.

Chase, in addition to his parents, was preceded in death by his brothers, Byron D. Witten and Jerome Witten; brothers-in-law, Daniel “Danny Boy” Lewis and George Bester.

Chase leaves to cherish precious memories his wife, Sarah L. Lewis-Witten; son, Tyrone Yuwan Lewis of Beckley; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Joseph (Cherri) Lewis of Bieliza; sisters-in-law, Mary Beth Lewis, Ramona Lewis, and Shirl Lewis, all of Beckley; aunts, Ruth Boyd, Grace Graham, Evelyn Boner and Katie Green, all of Dayton, OH; special cousin, Charlene (Larry) Neal; and many other cousins and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00PM Saturday, January 10, 2026 at Heart of God Ministries 1703 S. Kanawha St. Beckley.
Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view and visit with the family one-hour prior.
