Obituary For Mr. Jimmie Lee Ellison
Mr. Jimmy Lee Ellison Sr. was born in St. Clair, WV on September 7, 1944, to the late Joseph Ellison and Ella Mae Ellison. A man of steadfast love and devotion, Mr. Ellison spent most of his life in Bluefield, WV, surrounded by those he cherished most. He dedicated his efforts to serving his community by working for the City of Bluefield until he was no longer able to do so. In his final days, God graciously fulfilled his heartfelt wish to remain with his family through Christmas. On December 26, 2024, he passed away peacefully at Princeton Community Hospital, Princeton, WV, leaving behind a legacy of love and cherished memories. He had a heart full of joy and a spirit that brightened every room.
Jimmy cherished quoting his favorite scripture, Psalms 23:3-4, a testament to his faith and strength. He found great happiness in spending time with his children and grandchildren, creating moments of love and laughter that will live on forever. He enjoyed dancing, watching wrestling, fishing, playing spades, and Crazy 8. Most importantly, he had a gift for making people laugh, a legacy he lovingly passed on to his children.
Jimmy, his kind spirit, boundless generosity, and talent for making family gatherings unforgettable left an indelible mark on those who knew him. The memories he created and the love he shared will forever remain a source of comfort and inspiration. His legacy of love, laughter, and light will continue to shine in the hearts of his family and friends, a lasting reminder of the beautiful life he lived.
Jimmy gave his life to Jesus Christ in the early part of 2024, while on his bed of affliction. He was preceded in death by Samuel Crawley, (stepfather); Carolyn Ellison, (wife); Jimmy Ellison Jr., (son); Robert Ellison, (son); Joseph Ellison, (brother); Morris Ellison, (brother) and Ella Lorine Crawley, (sister).
Jimmy leaves to cherish his precious memories his sons, Joseph Ellison of Hinton, WV, Michael Ellison (Amanda) of Landis, NC, Willie Ellison (Stephanie) of Stockbridge, GA, and Samuel Ellison (LaTosha) of Brandywine, MD; daughters, Delinda Ellison and Margaret Ellison, both of Milwaukee, WI and Jasmine Johnson of Bluefield, WV; siblings, Willie Ellison (Margaret) of Riverview, FL, William Ellison (Luwander, deceased)) of Hamburg, NJ, Alex Crawley (Jackie) of Chatsworth, CA, Bobby Ellison (Lisa) of Winston Salem, NC, and Melissa Myers (Kenny) of Knoxville, TN; thirteen grandchildren, four great grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
Funeral service will be 12:00PM Friday, January 3, 2025 at Scott St. Baptist Church
600 Scott St. Bluefield, WV with Pastor Dr. Sam Ellison officiating. Burial will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Bluefield.
Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing may view and visit with the family one-hour prior.
