Obituary For Mr. John Shiflet

Mr. John Shiflet, 52, of Crab Orchard, traded his pain and suffering for his eternal wings Sunday, September 24, 2023 surrounded by family and friends.

John was known for being a kind man. He enjoyed spending spare time with his wife, grandchildren, and helping his dad take pictures with the family business Shifoto.

John, before his illness, worked at Kroger's in Lester Square for many years. John enjoyed being the self appointed "Facebook food critic", we could all count on him for the truth and a laugh. We will all miss that.

John was preceded in death by his grand mother, Mary Irene Burnett; mother, Joan Shiflet and mother-in-law, Mary Stover.

John leaves behind his loving wife, Rebecca, with who he chose to be his partner in life, they enjoyed all the ups and downs together; father, Charlie Shiflet; sister, Tiffany Shiflet; father-in-law, Billy Legg; children, Mikey (Taylor Stewart) Shiflet of Beckley, Kelsey (Kevin) Price of Jacksonville NC, Christian (Angel) Legg of Roanoke VA, and Danielle Stover (Christian Thomas); grandchildren, Aiden Legg, Keegan Legg, Samuel Thomas, Theodore Thomas, Kennedy Price, and Hazel Thomas, which were all the apple of his eye and heart. He also had another little lady in his life, Trainwreck Tracy, his cat who gave him a run for his money.

His best friend, Dewayne Marka of Coal City, always willing to help in any way he could. A young lady, Megan Huffman, with who he built a special relationship, she loving referred to him as "Uncle John".

Most of all we can't forget to give a huge thank you to Fresenius Medical Care, who went above and beyond to make sure John was as comfortable as possible. All of the friends John made doing his lucky locker finds. He truly enjoyed each and every one of you. The outpouring of love and support from John's friends, even going back as far as school, who have reached out, showing love and support to him and his family. You will never know the comfort John had during those chats.

Last but far from least, THANK YOU all for the support, texts, calls, acts of love, prayers and caring during the last month, we felt them all. If by chance we missed answering one please know we are sorry, but the whole Shiflet family thanks you.

We invite you all to come out as we celebrate John's life from 11:00AM - 1:00PM Thursday, September 28, 2023 at the Ritchie & Johnson Funeral Parlor Chapel 748 S. Fayette St. Beckley.

John was a wonderful son-in-law, devoted to his wife Rebecca and their grandchildren. John lived with a terrible disease, diabetes, which ravaged his body. Through it all, this man fought a mighty battle for many years. John will be missed by all that knew him and memories of him will forever be treasured. Rest in peace my son-in-law and friend.
