Obituary For Mr. Justin Hill Ellis
Mr. Justin Ellis, 79, of Eccles, WV passed on Wednesday, February 16, 2022.
Justin was born on Friday, January 22, 1943 to his parents Joseph Archibald Ellis, and mother Mary Lucille Ellis in the town of Glen Rogers, WV.
He attended Trap Hill High School, where he received his diploma. Shortly after graduation, he left WV and moved to Chicago, IL, where he met and wedded Charlotte Jones in 1968. He had three children, Justin H. Ellis II of Douglasville, GA, and Jamila Ellis-Brown of Chicago, IL and Joseph Henry Ellis (stillborn) of Chicago, IL.
He accepted Christ early in life, and attended True Temple of Solomon Mb Church with his family, and built a life in Chicago. He worked many years as a machinist, after which he attended the American Medical Technical Institute in downtown Chicago along with his wife, and the two became Emergency Medical Technicians for Berz Ambulance. Later he began a career as a Stationary Engineer, from which he retired.
Justin always had a talent for building new things, and restoring old things to their former glory. He was creative, intelligent, precise, deliberate, and a bit of a perfectionist with his craft. Justin was a strong man. He was a proud family man, and was known to the family and neighbors as a protector, a provider, a father, a confidant, a helper, and an encourager to those who knew him. After 34 years of marriage, in 2002, the couple divorced, and Justin came back to his hometown of Beckley, WV, where he lived out the rest of his years. Justin remained faithful and in touch with his family and friends over the years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Lucille Ellis; younger brothers, Charles David Ellis and Leonard James Ellis and son, Joseph Henry Ellis.
He leaves behind two children, Justin H. Ellis II (Beverly), Jamila A. Ellis-Brown (Tony); five grandchildren, Brittney, Aisah, Jaquan, Justin, and Tony Jr.; two great-grandchildren, Kenneth and Kevin Pitts-Burke; one sister, Jo Carol Wilson of Clarksburg WV and a host of nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Funeral service will be 12:00PM Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Heart of God Ministries 1703 S. Kanawha St. Beckley.
Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view and visit with the family one hour prior to the funeral service.
