Obituary For Mr. Kenneth Lee Cox Sr.

Mr. Kenneth Lee Cox Sr., was blessed by GOD to Virgie Mae Cox Jackson of Salem, VA and the late Warren Lee Cross, on November 24, 1965, in Beckley, WV. On Sunday, June 4, 2023, Kenneth, most affectionately known as “Kenny”, departed this life and moved on to his Heavenly Home.

Kenny was a 1985 graduate of Independence High School, where he excelled in sports. After graduation, he enlisted in the US Army, and received an honorable discharge.

Kenny was an avid sports fan and music connoisseur, who loved all types of music. He was also a collector of movies and CD’s.

Kenny, in 1994, he moved to OH, where he worked as a Press Operator. In 2018, after becoming disabled, he retired to WV.

Kenny, in addition to his father, was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Nelson and Gladys Cox; paternal grandparents, James and Mary Cross; great-grandmother, Ella Ragland; sons, Brandon Smith Cox and Kenneth L. Cox Jr.; brothers, Clifford C. Cox and Joseph Cox Jr.; sisters, Alda Mae Cox and Belinda Ann Cox; uncles, James Lewis Cox Sr., and Joseph Cox Sr.

Kenny, in addition to his mother, leaves to cherish precious memories his sister, Mary Ann Cox of Salem, VA; sons, Brian Cox of TX, Anthony Christopher Cox of New Orleans, LA, and Kazan Cox of Dayton, OH; daughters, Shelisha Cox of Flint, MI and Veronica Cox of Dayton, OH; two granddaughters, Melodee and Alani; aunts, Mary Wiltz, Marcella Hairston, Geraldine Simms, Jeanette Cox, Emma Jean Lewis, and special aunt and caretaker, Barbara Cox-Mizell of Beckley, WV; uncle, Howard (Jessie) Cox, Columbia, SC and a host nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00PM Saturday, June 10, 2023 at Heart of God Ministries 1703 S. Kanawha St. Beckley with Bishop Fred T. Simms officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may view and visit with the family one-hour prior.

Kenny and I was always together since we were young kids in STOTESBURY, We went to school together we done alot together, so many memories and so much laughter, Kenny was one of a kind.
