Obituary For Mr. Kevin Lamar English
Mr. Kevin Lamar English, 49, of Charlotte, NC, formerly of Beckley, WV went on to eternal peace on Sunday, January 2, 2022.
Born March 21, 1972, in Beckley, WV, he was the son of Charles Baldwin and the late Georgianna English.
Kevin attended Woodrow Wilson High School from 1987-1990, where he helped lead the Flying Eagles basketball team to a state championship title in 1990. That year he also earned 1st team all-state honors. Following high school, Kevin attended Pensacola Junior College and ultimately enrolled at the University of Charleston in 1991, where he finished his athletic and academic career. During his time at the University of Charleston, he helped lead the Golden Eagles to the WVIAC regular season and conference tournament championship in his first two seasons.
Kevin was a member of the First Baptist Church of West Wickham, where he was baptized at an early age. Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools and Alexander Youth Networks employed him for many years.
Kevin was a devoted father, a sports fanatic, and someone who loved people.
Kevin is preceded in death by his mother, Georgianna English; grandparents, James and Mabel English; uncles, Lewis Biting-English and aunts, Gladys English and Mildred Taylor-Wicks.
Left to cherish Kevin’s memory are his first-born and only daughter, Raquelle; sons, Tayon, Kaedon, Dimitri, and Kyson; second mother who raised him, Paulette; father, Charles Baldwin; grandson; Kenzo Kaba; brothers; Larry (Kelly) English Jr, Michael Spain, and Charles Baldwin Jr; sister, Jonica (Charlie) Penn; uncles; Larry (Jean) English Sr., Ernest (Reta) English and Brady English and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whom he loved like family.
Memorial service will be 12:30PM Saturday, January 15, 2022 at the Woodrow Wilson High School Auditorium 400 Stanaford Rd, Beckley.
Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may visit with the family thirty minutes prior to the service.
