Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mr. Lawrence "Bo Bo" Deskins, 77, of Beckley died Monday, January 23, 2017.

Born August 14, 1939 in Skelton, WV. he was the son of the late James Dooms and Gladys Morris Deskins.

Mr. Deskins graduated from Stratton High School in 1957 and served in the US Army. He moved to Linden, NJ and met his partner, Annie Ford. Mr. Deskins retired from the Elizabeth, NJ US Postal Office. Upon returning to Beckley he became member of St. Paul Baptist Temple, Beckley. Mr. Deskins hobbies were fishing, playing cards, trips to the Shoney's breakfast bar and Atlantic City, and Stratton Reunions.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Ted Anderson Sr.; sister, Virginia "Susie" Deskins; sister-in-law, Barbara "Bootsie" Anderson and partner Annie Ford.

Those left to cherish precious memories are his daughter, Robin Angela Harbison; siblings, Jerome "Jake" (Ellen) Deskins, Adelia Scott, Shirley Dooms and Terry Dooms Cooper; sister-in-law, Betty Deskins; grandsons, Marcus (Jimineice) Harbison and Jonathan (Gheilescia) Harbison; seven great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Monday, January 30, 2017 at St. Paul Baptist Temple, 129 Rice Street, Beckley, WV with Rev. Walter M. Leach officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
