Obituary For Mr. Lonnie Eugene Dearing
On March 6, 2021, cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend Lonnie Eugene Dearing was called home to be with the Lord. Born on May 6, 1955 to Clyde A and Betty Christian Dearing. Lonnie was proceeded in death by his mother, Betty. Lonnie was baptized at an early age at Hilltop Baptist Church, Hilltop, WV. He graduated from Mt Hope High School, where he excelled in sports and academics. After high school Lonnie attended Beckley College where he studied Drafting. Lonnie worked several years at Columbia Gas. Lonnie was a member of the Carpenters Union for more than 20 years. He was a dedicated worker and a skillful craftsman. He never left the house without his signature flannel shirt and contagious smile. He was the heart and soul of any room. He never knew a stranger and always made you feel welcome and valued. He was a source of support and encouragement to the neighborhood kids and adults alike. If you knew Lonnie, you loved him. He loved to make people laugh and lend a helping hand to anyone in need. He was Lamond’s biggest fan, his son, who he lovingly called “Chief.” Lonnie was many things to many people. He was a positive influence to anyone who knew him and he will be deeply missed. Mourning his passing, yet blessed to have enjoyed him for many years, are his beloved wife, Gloria Hughes Dearing of Oak Hill, WV; father; Clyde A Dearing of Hilltop, WV; son, Lamond Dearing (Linda) of Bridgeport, WV; daughter, Tiffannee Hughes of New Albany, IN; brothers, Larry Dearing (Gaile) of Richmond, TX and Lynn Dearing (Celestine) of Cleveland, OH; sisters, Debra Dearing Gilchrist (Tim) of Columbus, OH and Carol Robinson Dearing of Cleveland, OH; 5 grandchildren, DeMarcus, Jayda, Malik, Lylah and Luka; 3 great-grandchildren; nieces, cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral service will be 12:00PM Sunday March 14, 2021 at First Baptist Church of Harlem Heights 416 Broadway Ave. Oak Hill, WV with Pastor Shannon Robinson officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.
Friends, while wearing gloves and masks and observing social distancing, may view one hour prior to the service.
