Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

On Friday, the 21st day of April, our beloved Malique Medley, 30, was taken away from us.

Born November 22, 1992 in Beckley, he was the son of Willie C. Burns Jr. and Donna V. Medley, both of Beckley.

Malique was a high school graduate and worked as a professional rapper and housekeeper.

Malique was loved by so many people, he had a heart of gold. He was a God-fearing man and enjoyed going to the beach and writing music. He loved basketball but, most importantly he loved his family. He was most certainly a big impact on everyone’s life.

Malique met and married Rhoneka Manns Medley. To this union two children were born, one unborn; two bonus children, who adored him and whose lives he impacted heavily.

Malique was preceded him in death are his grandfather, Herbert Medley Jr.; grandmother, Julia Medley; special grandmother, Queen Lavender-Shepherd; grandfather, Willie C. Burns Sr.; grandmother, JoAnn Burns; friends, Isiah Shivers, Darius Toney, Roland Frazier, Shaquille Clark, Jay Singleton; aunt, Dana White; special grandmother, Victoria Burnette and godfather, Anthony Scruggs.

Malique, in addition to his parents, leaves to cherish precious memories his wife, Rhoneka; children, Malique Shaquille-Jai Medley Jr., Rholique Nashawn-Jai Medley, and My’Riona Vanessa-Lee Medley; stepson, JaMarques Jerome-Jay Manns; stepdaughter, JaMyya Ja’Riona-Jae Manns, all of Beckley; brothers, Samuel Medley, Jason Johnson, RaShawn Morris, Willie Burns III, DeVonte McCombs, Oshay Burns, Tayvon Morris, Keion Mitchell, Solomon Evans, and Simoan Burns; godbrothers, Johvan Davis and Tyron Davis; godsister, Dekresha Davis; godmother, Carla Davis Carson; grandmother, Priscilla Worrell; special grandfathers, Rev. John Burnette and Jimmy C. Shepherd; aunts and uncles, Sucre Burnes,Willa Burns, Linda Stovall, Jessie Robertson, Angela Worrell, Jamahl Worrell, Alexander Worrell, Samuel White, Greg Lavender, Krystal Shepherd, Ivory Shepherd, and Nikki Shepherd; nieces and nephews, Jalyke Evans, Karma Medley, Hunk Medley, Janiya Garrett, David Williams, Legacy Johnson, Akezia Mentor, Rashawn Morris Jr., Legend Miller, Journeii Grandjean, Khaleesi Morris, Gabriella Burns, GioVonna Burns, Kayln Paynter, Nevaeh Paynter, and Aries Burns and a host of other relatives and friends.

Memorial service will be 12:00PM Saturday, May 6, 2023, at Heart of God Ministries 1703 S. Kanawha St. Beckley with Bishop Fred T. Simms officiating.

Friends while wearing mask, may visit with the family one hour prior to the service at the church.
