Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mark T. Portee, 52, of Mt. Hope, WV died Monday, February 13, 2017.

He was born at August 15, 1964 in Rockville Center, NY. He was the son of Kathleen Leonard (Howard A.) of Mt. Hope and the late Hanif Ibrahim Portee.

He was also preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Mary Leonard; Clyde Portee, Jr. of Baltimore, MD; Louise and Arbelvia Kea of Westbury, NY.

Mark graduated from Far Rockaway High School, NY, attended the College of West Virginia, Beckley, WV, was a Pastry Baker and a Fireman with the City of Mt. Hope.

In addition to his parents he leaves to cherish his memory brothers, Andre Hasson Portee of Mt. Hope and Lateef Portee of NY, NY; sister, Kathleen Naima (Don) Sullivan of Sufolk VA; step-brother, Howard A Scott, Jr. of Baltimore, MD; step-sisters, Lucretia Scott of Teaneck, NJ, and Nicole Scott of Cincinnati, OH; uncles, Rev. Chester (Marie E.) Leonard of Mt. Hope and Willie (Gwendolyn) Leonard of Charlotte, NC; aunts, Betty Salmon of Ocala FL and Delores Jordan of Stockbridge, GA and a host of cousins, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00pm Monday February 20, 2017 at United Missionary Baptist Church 205 South Fayette Ave. Mt. Hope with Revs. Phillip Copney Sr. and Thomas Steelman. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church.
