Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mr. Melvin Thomas “Bootney” Woodson, 84, of Beckley, WV died Saturday, December 14, 2019.

Born June 1, 1935 in Kaymoor, WV, he was the son of the late Charles “Charlie” and Virginia “Virgie” Toney Woodson.

Bootney retired from WV Division of Highways, was an avid fisherman and hunter and a member of Welcome Baptist Church, Beckley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles E. Paisley, John Allen, Audrian Woodson, Norval MacArthur Woodson, Charlie Truedell Woodson, Freddie George Woodson, and William “Billy” Woodson and sisters, Dorothy Marie Johnson, Deloris Mae Woodson, and Shirley Woodson.

Those left to cherish precious memories are sisters, Mamie Woodson Ledwell of Cleveland, OH, Sherbdean Clark (Ronald Lawson) and Brenda (Kenny) Morst, both of Beckley, WV; special nephews and nieces, Roger Newsom, Ronald Newsom, Michell Harris-Smith, and Lisha Woodson and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00PM, Saturday, December 21, 2019 at Welcome Baptist Church, 206 Eighth Street, Beckley, WV with Bishop David Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley, WV.

Friends may call two hours prior to the service at the church.
