Obituary For Mr. Michael James Eldridge Anderson Sr.

Mr. Michael James Eldrige Anderson Sr., 85, of Beckley, WV went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 11, 2022, after a longtime battle with Alzheimer's. After 7 years of being cared for by family, he was called home while cared for at St Thomas Rutherford Hospital in Murfreesboro, TN. Born July 26, 1936 in Beckley, WV, he was the only child to the late James and Cassie Anderson. Mr. Anderson Sr. was a retired coal miner, a deacon, bus driver, and sang in the male choir at New Hope Baptist Church. He also was a great softball coach, one of the early football Presidents of the East Beckley football team and he played a signifcant role in the overall sports community for his children and grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Rezatta (Primmy) Bly-Anderson; son, Shawn Anderson and grandsons, Jalen Tucker and Kaimyn Anderson. Left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Dorothy (Mike) Tabor of Reidsville, NC and Lisa Anderson-Bandy of Murfreesboro, TN; sons, Michael James Eldridge Anderson Jr. also of Murfreesboro, TN and Brandon (Shemica) Anderson of Greensboro, NC; sisters-in-law, Della (Don Hall) Leisure, Nettie Bly, Yvonne Winn and Joyce Bly; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; a special cousin, Mary Reid and a host of special nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. Funeral service will be 12:00PM Tuesday, June 21, 2022 at New Hope Baptist Church 304 Worley Rd. Beckley with Rev. Eugene Nabors officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may view and visit with the family one hour prior to the funeral service.

The family would to thank everyone that kept in touch and checked on him when he moved to TN. He enjoyed every conversation and it was a joy to see him smile.

    To Lisa and her siblings! What a fantastic show of love you gave your Daddy. His care was phenomenal and it was reflected in the Facebook pictures you sent out. Followers of Christ know that this time comes to all of us. We must prepare ourselves to never say "Goodbye" but to say "See you later. May God grant each of you strength and peace.     Sincere condolences to the children and grandchildren of Michael. We were long time neighbors on Ringleben Street for well over thirty years. I believe he was in the class with our sister Mary (Peggy) d. 2017. We have many fond memories of Michael and his parents. Our prayer is that you will find comfort and peace during this difficult time The Scotts (Gracie, Cleovis, Ruth and Martha).
