Obituary For Mr. Nathaniel Thompson

A man of God, Nathaniel R. Thompson of Beckley, WV went home to be with the Lord Thursday, June 27, 2024 after battling a long illness.

Nathaniel was born December 17, 1956 in Beckley, WV to the late Elgin G. and Madeline H. Gravely Thompson.

In addition to his parents, he was proceeded in death by his son, Nathaniel R. Thompson Jr.; bonus son, James R. Moore III; sister, Vanessa Thompson; brothers, Eugene Thompson and Philip Thompson.

Known to his family and friends as Ricky, he was a loving father, brother, and uncle.

He never met a stranger and was willing to help anyone. Ricky was a coal miner for 17 years before retiring. He was he vice president of the East Beckley Wildcats in the late 90s; a faithful member of St. Matthew A.M.E. Church, Beckley, where he was on the board of Trustees, the Usher Board and in the Senior Choir.

Survivors include his daughter, Erra Thompson and son, Justin Thompson, both of Beckley, WV; bonus son, John J. (Aleisha) Moore; long-time friend and mother of his children, Doreen Moore of Beckley, WV; three sisters, Lillian (Edward) Christian of Anniston, AL; Eileen (Clifford) Washington and Marquita Clay, both of Beckley, WV; two brothers; Lowell Thompson and Stephen (Sandy) Thompson, both of Beckley, WV, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Special thank you to his sister, Eileen Washington; nieces, Azalia Thompson and Leila Thompson; Bowers Hospice and anyone who called or sent your prayers.

Graveside service will be 1:00PM Saturday, July 6, 2024 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens 5251 Robert C. Byrd Dr. Prosperity with Bishop Fred T. Simms officiating.
