Mr. Phillip Edward "Big Phil" Hairston, 61, of Beckley, formerly of Rhodell, WV died Thursday, October 13, 2016.

Born April 4, 1955 in Beckley, WV, he was the son of the late Thurston and Alice Hairston.

He was a retired coal miner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Larry J. Miller; and brother, Thomas "Tommie" Hairston.

Left to cherish precious memories are his wife, Marcella Cross Hairston; son, Delano Alexander of Charleston, WV; daughters, Tonya Alexander, Rhonda Hamilton, and Nena Hairston, all of Charleston, WV; grandchildren, Jazmyn Cross, Cedric Cross, Jayd Alexander, Alexander Hamilton, Jocelyn Hamilton, Josiah Payton, Tristan Payne, Ayna Peyton, and Alina Peyton; great-grandchildren, Elijah McGlown and Nya Newberry; brothers, Ronald Hairston of Rhodell, WV, and Gary (Emily) Hairston of Beckley, WV; sisters, Geraldine Anderson of Rhodell, WV, Patricia Hairston and Kay (Charles) Mitchell, both of Beckley, WV and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the Ritchie & Johnson Funeral Parlor Chapel, 748 S. Fayette St. Beckley, with Pastor Gary Eskins officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the funeral parlor.
