Obituaries – Their Stories Live On

Mr. Phillip “Phil” Aubrey Carson, 59, of Beckley, died Monday, June 17, 2019.

Born October 31, 1959 in Beckley, he was the son of the late William Hugh and Frances Aretha Carson.

Phil was a member of Welcome Baptist Church, a dietary worker at Raleigh General, Beckley ARH, and Jackie Withrow Hospitals and a custodial trainer at Disney World.

In addition to his parents, preceding him in death are brothers, Gary R. and William H. Carson Jr.; maternal grandparents, Benjamin J. Sr. and Gladys Carson and paternal grandparents, Harry and Cleo Johnson.

Those left to cherish precious memories are his daughter, Latisha (Hoyt) Catus-Norman of Smyrna, GA; companion, Anita Harris of Beckley; brothers, Elder Bruce Ramon (Nina) Carson of Minden and Steven Alan (Carla) Carson of Harper; sisters, Anita Morton of Beckley, Mary F. (Moses) Hubert of Columbus, OH, Linda Y. (Walter) Robinson of Carriacou, Grenada and Stephanie R. Carson of Chandler, AZ; grandchildren, Jamia and Amani Norman of Smyrna, GA and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 12:00pm; Friday, June 28, 2019 at Welcome Baptist Church, 206 Eighth Street, Beckley with Bishop David F. Allen and Elder Bruce R. Carson officiating. Burial will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Prosperity.

Friends may call one hour prior to the service at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Cancer Society online.
