Obituary For Mr. Raymond Darnell Morgan

Mr. Raymond Darnell Morgan was born on November 16, 1936 in Beckley, WV to Fred and Essie Morgan. He was blessed to be one of 8 wonderful siblings (6 girls and 2 boys).

Growing up, he was also known as "Morg" to his friends. After graduation, he joined the United States Army Reserve where he served in Paris, France from 1956-1958. He later relocated to Washington, DC and married Regelia Ann Morgan with whom he had two sons, Keith β€œBuddy” & Raymond Jr. β€œRed”. Though this relationship wasn't permanent, they remained married and friends afterwards for over sixty years.

He worked at the Government Printing Office for over thirty years and was very active in his church, Garden Memorial Presbyterian, where he served on the Board of Trustees & as a Deacon. He enjoyed being a member of an equestrian riding club in Ft. Washington, MD, bowling and watching his Washington, DC area sports teams.

He was predeceased by his siblings, Mae Thomas, Geneva Thompson, Phil Morgan & Juanita Garcia.

He passed away on Sunday, May 5, 2024, at home in Bel Alton, MD, at the age of 87.

Raymond Morgan is survived by his wife, Regelia Ann Morgan; sons, Keith Reginald Morgan (Andrea) and Raymond Darnell Morgan, Jr. (Virginia); grandchildren, Alisha Ann Morgan, Amanda Taylor Morgan and Justin Matthew Morgan; sisters, Doris Morgan, Agnes Morgan and Naomi Hines (Melvin); many loving nieces & nephews, and his partner of many years, Sarah Snow & her family.

Funeral service will be 12:00PM Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Sky Baptist Church 815 S. Fayette St. Beckley with Rev. William Fruit officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Beckley.

Friends, while wearing masks and observing social distancing, may visit with the family one-hour prior.
